General questions
Our Aviva home insurance arrangement is coming to an end, but we still want you to have a home insurance product and service that suits your needs.
After researching the UK’s leading insurance providers, we chose a new provider, Uinsure.

Plus, they’ll also do this automatically each time your policy is due for renewal, reviewing your premium against the full panel to offer you the most competitive renewal price.
Your new quote from Uinsure
We want to make it as simple as possible for you to get a new quote with Uinsure.
To make sure you get an accurate quote, we need to share your most recent home insurance information with Uinsure. We provided you with notice of this in the 'About our insurance services' document, and you can find further information about your rights in our Privacy Policy leedsbuildingsociety.co.uk/security/use-of-personal-information/ Don’t worry – your bank account details won’t be given to Uinsure.
Should you not wish to take out a policy with Uinsure, Uinsure will delete your data..
When you receive your quote, you’ll need to check the level of cover and excesses are right for you and your circumstances. And also check your personal details are correct and up to date.
If you need to make changes to the quote, excesses, or levels of cover, you can scan the QR code to do this.
If you want to go ahead with the new policy, you just need to follow the instructions included with your quote to confirm your payment details - this will be considered as your acceptance of the quote.
The new home insurance policy provided by Uinsure offers comprehensive protection and different levels of cover and excesses. This means your new quote won’t be the same as the premium you’re currently paying.
That’s why it’s important you check the quote offered by Uinsure continues to meet your needs.
Yes - you’re under no obligation to go ahead with the home insurance quote from Uinsure. But you do need to ensure you have a new policy in place before your current one with Aviva expires.
If you do want to make your own arrangements, we can’t give you any advice about who to arrange alternative insurance with.
You should receive a quotation pack or be asked to contact Uinsure to obtain a quote. If you are requested to contact Uinsure, this will only occur when a more specialised solution is needed due to, for example, your claims history or construction of your property.
Approximately 21 to 30 days before your existing policy expires, you’ll either receive your new home insurance quote with instructions on what to do next or be asked to contact Uinsure.
You'll also receive a reminder around 7 to 10 days before your policy expires, if you haven’t made contact.
To make sure you stay protected once you receive your new quote, you must act either to:
contact Uinsure to provide your payment details and put your new policy in place, or
make your own alternative home insurance arrangements
You should do this before your existing policy with Aviva expires so your home is protected.
Please be aware that postal strikes may impact on the timescales provided above.
Your existing Aviva policy
Because your Aviva home insurance policy is coming to an end, we’ll send you a new home insurance quote through Uinsure or ask you to contact them.
To make sure you’re not left without cover, you’ll need to take action when you get that letter. You’ll receive this approximately 21 to 30 days before your existing policy ends.
Your policy with Aviva will end on your renewal date and cover with them won’t continue. If you don’t decide to go ahead with the Uinsure quote or make your own alternative arrangements, your home and / or its contents won’t be protected should the worst happen.
If you have a mortgage with Leeds Building Society, your mortgage terms and conditions say that you must have an active buildings insurance policy on your property.
If you want to switch your home insurance to Uinsure then you should wait for the new quote to be sent to you. You’ll then be able to review this and set up your new policy to begin when your current one ends.
Your current monthly payment arrangement with Aviva will stop at the end of your policy.
If you choose to go ahead with the home insurance quote from Uinsure, you’ll need to set up a new Direct Debit by following the instructions that will be provided with your new quote.
If you need to make an immediate change to your existing cover, you should contact Aviva using the contact details contained in your policy booklet.
Aviva will make the change and, if relevant, will pass the information to Uinsure to make sure you get an accurate new home insurance quotation.
If your new quote from Uinsure doesn’t include the changes, you should contact Uinsure to make sure you’re fully covered.
If you want to cancel your existing policy with Aviva, you can contact them using the contact details contained in your policy booklet. If you cancel your policy before the expiry date, Aviva will charge you £10 plus Insurance Premium Tax.
Your current period of cover and claim will not be affected by this change. The handling of a claim will continue with Aviva.
The quotation offered will be based on any claim information passed to Uinsure by Aviva.
